Who should we call for business questions?
We have an excellent business staff to answer your questions. They are located at the Evans office and can be called at (706) 854-2500. Our manager, Jeff, should be contacted for matters of employment, sales, advertising, or complaints. For questions regarding insurance or a billing statement which you have received, ask for the insurance department. Any matters that just can't seem to be resolved should be taken up with Jeff Small, our practice administrator. To speed matters up, use the "Contact PPA" link on our Home Page and send us your message by email. We will get back with you as promptly as possible!
Why do doctors take a day off?
Our pediatricians work very long days! Their morning rounds usually begin at about 7:00 am. The offices then operate until about 5:00 pm followed by evening rounds. At least one day each week each pediatrician works in the night clinic until 8:00 pm and then responds to emergency calls on the phone and at local hospitals all night long. Last but not least, about every 3rd weekend each doctor is required to work all day Saturday or Sunday in our after hours clinic, making rounds, or on call. Taking a day off during the week is very important with this schedule. This time off lets doctors spend time with their families, it lets them tend to personal business (like fixing the car!), and it gives them time to 'recharge' for the next busy week. Please have patience if your doctor is not always in the office right when you need him!
Why am I asked to pay BEFORE I am seen?
Many insurances today require the patient to pay a fixed amount for any office visit. This amount may be anywhere from $5 to $40. No matter how much the visit "costs" that will always be the amount patients with these particular insurances will pay. By asking for these "copayments" at the front window we can greatly reduce the time required for "checking out" of the office. We appreciate you helping us with this system and we hope that, in turn, we are helping you!
Who do I talk to when I need medical advice?
When you call our offices medical questions are forwarded to our medical staff. Our experienced nurses will answer as many questions as they can. If your question requires a physician's experience the call will be forward to one of our pediatricians. Our nursing staff spend much of their day on the phone and will answer calls as quickly as they can - usually within 60 minutes.
Our physicians will usually save their calls until the lunch break or until the end of the day. Doing this allows them to continue seeing the scheduled patients in a timely manner. If you request one of our pediatricians to call you back they will! However, please be patient and plan on them calling you during lunch or after regular office hours.
